FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

"Think nutrition; Ask a Dietitian."

WHAT IS A REGISTERED DIETITIAN?

Dietitians are medical nutritional experts, the only nutrition professionals who are governed by law meaning they we are highly regulated in a similar way to other healthcare professionals e.g. Doctors, Physiotherapists and more. We usually work in clinical settings like hospitals, but we can also guide government healthy policies or advise the food industry. We translate nutritional research into practical advice that helps people who are healthy or unwell. All dietitians train for many years and have to undertake continued professional development to keep the title of "Dietitian" - seeing a Dietitian means you'll receive the highest quality of nutrition advice.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN YOUR SERVICES?

Each consultation is ~60-90 minutes and includes:

  • Assessing your current health including looking at past medical history, current symptoms, medications, blood-tests, mental health etc.

  • Education on self-management of your nutrition-related condition.

  • Tailored dietary guidance that will make a difference, but that also fits in with your life.

After our appointment:

  • You can request for a professional report you can share e.g. with your GP/Consultant.

  • Relevant tests may be requested to your GP e.g. full blood counts, micro-nutrient-statuses, stool samples etc.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU TAKE?

For deposits, please pay via online bank transfer where my bank details will be sent to you when we arrange an appointment over email or on the phone. If a deposit is paid online, the remainder can be paid in cash at our appointment or via bank transfer after the session.

I'm also registered with Aviva, AXA and Vitality private health insurance providers, however not everyone's policy covers Dietitians so please check with your provider before arranging your appointment.

WHAT IS YOUR BOOKING POLICY?

A deposit must be made to secure your booking, this is half the appointment fee and will be counted towards the total cost. Deposits and full payments can be refunded up to 12 hours before the appointment. Refunds may be given in other exceptional circumstances - but this is at my discretion.

A booking is only confirmed when you've received confirmation through an email, if you do not receive this please contact via Laura@askyourdietitian.com or call 07814736841.

DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING BEFORE THE SESSION?

I'VE NEVER SEEN A DIETITIAN, IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?

A couple of forms and a food diary will be emailed to you before the appointment and these must be emailed back at least 24 hours before the session. The forms will help to save time in the session so you get a higher quality service for your money.

Please also bring/email relevant documents like GP letters, blood test results etc. as this will help to more accurately assess you and tailor your dietary care plan.
